Force of Nature's improvisation class is designed to assist beginners and experts alike in the art and concepts of performance improvisation. For beginners, this is a chance to gain understanding and confidence not only in improvisation itself, but with performance in general.
For the more advanced, we will be introducing novel and unique perspectives on the discipline and how they may be applied.

Class will meet once a week on Mondays @9PM for (7) weeks with a showcase night on the final week of classes!

Class 1 – Introduction; Status, Spontaneity, and Narrative; Procedures, pushing your own 'buttons'
Class 2 – In the body: Towers, Fast Food Laban, Silence & Slowness, Placement
Class 3 – Motivations and obsessions: Fast Food Stanislavsky, Secrets, Instant Death
Class 4 – Releasing control: Mindfulness, Mantras, Tilts
Class 5 – Holding Attention, Storytelling, Performance Games, Serious Scenes
Class 6 – Miscellaneous and Entertainment games, Refresher

About the instructor...
Instructor Michael Guthrie began performing improvisation in 1992 when he auditioned for and was accepted as a cast member for Kansas City's Comedy Sportz. He has taken instruction from Keith Johnstone (author of Impro: Improvisation and the Theater), as well as from Tracy Burns, Bill Margolin, Brian Jones, and Paul Hungerford. Along with KCCSz, he has also performed with LA Theater Sports, LA Connection Theater, and Impro Theater.
